The marriage of Miss Alice Guion, of this city, and Mr. Sidney J. Vason, of Elberton, Ga., took place last evening at 7:30, at St. Peter's Episcopal church, and was witnessed by a large number of interested friends.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. W. R. Wetmore, of Lincolnton, former pastor of the bride and a life-long friend of her family. The chancel was appropriately dressed in white, and with its flowers and lights was exceedingly pretty and bride like.
The wedding march, played by Mr. Will Bell, sounded punctyally to the hour, and the doors were thrown ajar to admit the bridal party. The ushers entered in pairs-Messrs. Alex Haskell and Royal Shannonhouse; Herbert Gormley and Vivion Guion, Louis and Benjamin Guion.
The bride entered on the arm of her fiance. As they reached the chancel Mr. Benjamin Guion, who was the best man, advanced to the side of the groom. Mr. Louis Guion, who was to give the bride away, stood on her left. After the betrothal at the foot of the chancel, the marriage was solemnized in the chancel.
At the close of the ceremony Mr. Wetmore presented the bride with the prayer book which he had used on the occasion, which had belong to one of her ancestors a hundred years ago. From the church Mr. and Mrs. Vason were driven at once to the Carolina Central station, where they took the train for Elberton. After a few days there, they leave on a bridal trip.
The bride is the third daughter of the late Benjamin Guion. She is a lovely young woman. She possesses many fine traits of character, which have won for her friends and admirers wherever she is known. She was attired last evening in a stylish, close-fitting gown of gray cloth, and was a pure type of gentle woman of the South.
The groom is a native of Florida. He has lived in Elberton for several years, being treasurer of the Elberton Cotton Oil Company. Although a stranger here, that he is just what he should be is judged by the choice he has made of a wife.
Many beautiful presents were received by the young couple from friends in this and other States.
