Child Drowns in Irrigation Pond
Garfield-- June 1, Donald Deets, three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs Raymond Deets of Coldwater was drowned Sunday in the irrigation pond on the farm of the child's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Deets.
The Raymond Deets family had driven here to spend Decoration day with friends and relatives and gone out to the Deets farm to look after it, while Mr and Mrs. P. W. Deets went to Great Bend. Ten minutes after the latter arrived in Great Bend they received the news that their grandchild was dead.
The little baby had wandered out of the house and was not missed for several minutes, when search was made his body was found at the bottom of the pond. A pulmotor was sent from Larned but failed to revive the baby.
