Robert Edward "Ed" Dorsey
Upper Deerfield Township,New Jersey

Edward Dorsey, 76 of Upper Deerfield Township,New Jersey, died early Saturday morning at the South Jersey Hospital System-Bridgeton Division after a brief illness. His death was unexpected.

Born in Hartford,Tennessee, the son of the late Bruce and Vergie Gunter Dorsey, he was the husband of the late Mary Jenkins Dorsey. He had been an Upper Deerfield Township, New Jersey resident for 40 years and prior to that had resided in Tennessee.

Before his retirement 22 years ago, he had been employed as a supervisor with Seabrook Farms in Seabrook,New Jersey for 30 years. Until this past November, he had been employeed part time with Brock Nursery in Upper Deerfield Township, New Jersey for several years.

Mr. Dorsey was a veteran of WWll, having served with the United States Army Air Corps in the European Theater.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by two sisters, Frances and Pauline.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy E. Gaunt of Upper Deerfield Township,New Jersey and Betty L. Ricci of Downe Township,New Jersey;two brothers, Harold Dorsey of Hartford and Wayne Dorsey of Gatlinburg;four sisters, Gladys Darter and Imogene Keckler, both of Springfield,Mo.,Helen Arp of Indiana and Shirley McMillen of Newport;and five grandchildren, Allison, Brian and Jennifer Ricci of Downe Township,New Jersey and Amanda and Brent Gaunt of Upper Deerfield Township, New Jersey.

Funeral services will be held at 10am Wednesday morning from the Padgett Funeral Home,1107 State Highway #77,Bridgeton,New Jersey, with the Rev. Dwight Mikesell, pastor of First Wesleyan Church in Upper Deefield Township,New Jersey, officiating.

Burial will take place at Olivet Cemetery in Pittsgrove, Salem County,New Jersey.

" Ed always went by Ed though his birth name was Robert Edward. Being born in the backwoods of the Smokey Mountains, there was no birth certificate issued at the time of birth just a Bible entry. His birth certificate was issued when he went into the service, a delayed certificate and they never put the Robert on it."
