__________
Information per Elmer Hartman (now deceased), grandson of William S. Johnson:

"William S. Johnson was born in Tompkins Co. NY and Maria Johnson was born in Cayuga Co. NY. They came to Livingston Co. and were married and bought or worked a farm on or near Dutch St. Rd., town of Mt. Morris. They sold that and bought a farm of 80 acres near Byersville, then later bought 40 acres more that cornered on the south-east across the road and known as the Naragan farm. They had one son Lewis and he died the next year, then they had Thomas and John and they died four days apart with bloody dysentery then the next year C. Franklin was born.

"Grandfather was a farmer, carpenter and jointer and his sons Charles Frank and Edwin helped him with carpenter work. While grandfather and Uncle Charles Franklin were building a house on the Coffee Hill, the house burned down with most of their tools.

"In later years grandfather sold and installed pumps for the Hubbard Pump factory near Dansville. I can remember grandfather as I was past the age of 5 years when he died and [remember] the old horse "Bill" and the old pump wagon.

"Grandmother died 2 weeks before father and mother were married.
