Adam Franklin, one of the oldest residents of Franklin County, died at the home of his son, David at Upper Strasburg, Saturday afternoon, Feb. 14, after an illnes of two weeks, aged 94 years.
The son of John & Catherine (Longsdorff) Franklin, he was born in Roxbury and lived there most of his life.
He married Sarah Palmer and fathered the following children.

Jonathan P. (b. 06/??/52),
David Taylor (b. 04/17/56),
William S. (b. 08/05/59),
Emma Elizabeth (b. 05/17/63 married James Henderson Paxton),
Samuel (b. 02/??/68).
In 1860, he was a blacksmith living in Lurgan Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. After the death of his wife, about 20 years ago, he moved to Strasburg.
He was a member of the M. P. Church at Roxbury and of Path Valley Lodge I. O. O. F. A Civil War veteran, he was drafted in Chambersburg October 16, 1862, mustered into federal service there as 2nd lieutenant of Co. B, 158th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his company August 12, 1863.
He is survived by the following children: George of Harrisburg, William of Carlisle, David of Upper Strasburg, Samuel of Brooklyn, N.Y., and one daughter, Mrs. Henderson Paxton of Chambersburg, and a number of grand-children and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Wednesday morning, Rev. Jenkins of the M. P. Church of Roxbury officiating. Interment at Roxbury.
