Mr. E. C. Taylor died at his home in this city last Sunday morning after an illness of some weeks. The funeral was held from the Congregational Church on Tuesday P.M. being attended by a large number of old friends and acquaintances. Mr. Taylor was born in Maine in 1831. His father died when he was six years of age and thereafter until fifteen his life was spent mostly among strangers.

In the sping of 1850 he went to Oberlin, Ohio where he completed his education and where he was married. In 1855 he migrated to the "Far West" taking up a claim near Weeping Water, Nebraska, where he spent 12 years in farming and preaching the Gospel and then went to Lincoln, Nebraska where he organized the First Congregational Church, now one of the strongest churches of that denomination in the state. In 1868 he became pastor of the church at Percival, Fremont County, Iowa, but after two years of faithful service his health failed him and he moved on to a farm near the city.
