Born on Jan. 20, 1887, John T. Bailey was the youngest child of John and Rebecca (Reed) Bailey. He married Oakie Hudson on Oct. 14, 1908 in Boone County. They were the parents of one child, a daughter, Cathalene. John died on Jan. 30, 1923 at the age of 36.

John Bailey, age 36, a well-known citizen of Union township, living southwest of Lizton, died Tuesday morning of pneumonia. He is survived by Mrs. Bailey and one child.

from the Gazette for Feb. 1, 1923:

John Bailey, Jr., age 36, a farmer of Union township, died Tuesday morning, at the home northwest of Lizton. Death resulted from complications following pneumonia, from which he had been suffering for two weeks.

The funeral will be held at the Old Union church this afternoon, and burial will be at the K. of P. cemetery at Lizton. The I. O. O. F. and Red Men lodges of Jamestown will assist in the services.

Besides the widow and one daughter, deceased is survived by three brothers, George W., Peter and Edward (sic, Edgar) Bailey; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Dale, Mrs. Nettie Hedge, Mrs. Nora Lee and Mrs. Ellen Hall; a half-brother, Marion Bailey, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Eva Campbell of Terre Haute, and Mrs. Elizabeth Smith.

Deceased was the youngest son of John Bailey, Sr., and Rebecca Reed Bailey, now deceased.

John T. Bailey, youngest son of John and Rebecca J. Bailey, was born in Hendricks county, near Lizton, Jan. 20, 1887; departed this life Jan. 30, 1923, age 36 years and 10 days.

He was united in marriage to Oakie May Hudson, October 14, 1908. To this union was born one daughter, Cathalene Jane.

He was a member of the I. O. O. F. and of the Improved Order of Red Men.

John was a good and obliging neighbor and through his friendly disposition and being at all times ready with willing heart and hands to go where duty called, even beyond his ability he had gained a wide circle of friends. He was a kind and loving husband and father.

He leaves the wife and daughter, three brothers, four sisters, one half brother and two half sisters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
