Mary Magadeline Dale was born June 12, 1858, a daughter of John and Rebecca (Reed) Bailey. In 1862, she moved with her parents to an 80 acre farm 1.5 miles northwest of Lizton. Mary married John Harrison Dale on Nov. 12, 1873. They were the parents of three surviving sons (Ira Otha, William Edgar and Charles B. Dale) and three children that died in infancy. After the birth of Ira, the family moved by covered wagon from Hendricks County to Kansas in 1877. In 1892, the family made the long wagon trip back to Hendricks County. Mary (Bailey) Dale died on Dec. 31, 1944 and is buried at the Lizton K. of P. Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary (Bailey) Dale, age 86, died at the home of her son, Charles Dale, northwest of Lizton, Sunday. Most of her life had been spent near Lizton. She was a member of the Lizton Christian Church. She leaves one son, Charles, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, one brother, Ed Bailey of Lizton; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Hedge, of Lizton, and Mrs. Eva Ann Campbell, of near Terre Haute. Funeral services were held at the home of Charles Dale, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Lester Pifer in charge.
