Ralph Henry Atwill was the 1st child of Nellie Carpenter and Arthur
James Atwill. He was born July 27, 1908 in Lebanon, Kansas and died at
Smith County Hospital on June 17, 1975 of a heart attack at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 21 days.
He attended rural school in the Lebanon area and later worked at a
Children's Homes in Kansas.
He lived his last 15 years at the Goakey Home in Athol, Ks.
Preceding him in death were his Father Arthur James Atwill and a
sister, Evelyn. He came from a large family of 11 children.
Survivors include his mother, Nellie Atwill of Lebanon; 3 brothers, Eugene Atwill, Seattle, Wash.; Arthur Atwill, Smith Center; and Willard Atwill, Stockton; and six sisters: Marguerite, Lebanon; Ada May Spradlin, Orange Lake, Fla.; Lucille Bausch, Tucson, Az.; Reida Holding, Crystal River, Fla.; Lona Relihan, Topeka, and Lois Martin, Wichita.
The family was all here for the funeral services except Ada, Lucille and Eugene.
Memorial Services were held Friday, June 20, 1975. 2 p.m. from Simmons Chapel in Smith Center. Rev. Dale McCain of Smith Center officiated at the services.
The casket bearers were Willard Atwill, Arthur Atwill, Dick Nyp, Elle Mays, Gary Edwards and Bud McElfresh.
