MORRETT
Sarah Peco Morrett was born Mary 31, 1896 in Clio, Wayne County, Iowa to John W. and Rosa Lynch Gartin, and passed away August 3, 1985 at the home of her daughter in Cumming, Iowa.
Peco was united in marriage on June 30, 1918 to Andy J. Morrett, who preceded her in death March 12, 1963. She lived most of her life in the Lucas County area where she and Andy were involved in farming before moving to Chariton in the 1930's.
She attended the Freedom and Sharon churches during the earlier part of her life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chariton at the time of her death.
Peco, often referred to as "Mike" or "Peke" by her brothers is survived by her son, George and wife, Lois of Plano, Iowa; her daughters, Ruth Anderson and husband, Kenneth of Chariton, and Doris Rosenberger and husband, David C. of Cumming, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, Linda Horton, Evelyn Horton, Lois Jeffries, Danny Morrett, Cindy Ruepke, James Morrett, Keith Anderson, Dean Anderson, Janis Anderson, Andrea Coco, Mary, Kurt, Nancy and Lance Rosenberger; and 16 great-grandchildren, all residents of the local area.
She also leaves to mourn her brothers, John and Harley Gartin of Chariton and Archie Gartin of Bakersfield, California; also two sisters, Kate Campbell and Lillie Remster, in addition to many, many friends. She will be missed so much by all those who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Andy, her brothers, Charles, Rex and Dewey, and a grandson, Andy Bill Morrettt.
Services were held Tuesday, August 6, 1985, at the Fielding Funeral Home. The Rev. Pearl Sams conducted the service. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
