MONTPELIER - Billy Joe Eaton, 68, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at his home in Montpelier. He was born Sept. 3, 1937, in Chickasaw County to the late Geneva Morgan and Alfred Floyd Eaton. He lived most of his life in Clay County. He worked for Bryan Foods for 11 years. He then worked for Babcock & Wilcox, where he was an "A" cold bender for 30 years. He was a member of Palestine United Methodist. He loved his dog, Bo Bo.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Jason Brock will officiate and the Rev. Harold Robinson will assist. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery at Montpelier.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joyce Dendy Eaton of Montpelier, whom he married Nov. 20, 1959; one daughter, Melinda Eaton Abshire of Starkville; one son, Billy Wayne Eaton of Montpelier; one grandson, Tyler Abshire of Starkville; one sister, Louise Parker and husband, Arthur, of Montpelier; three brothers, A.J. Eaton and wife, Lila, and Hubert Eaton and wife, Faye, all of Montpelier, and Darrell Eaton and wife, Alice Faye, of West Point; a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Frank Todd, Kevin Clark, Jim Murray, Andy Moore, Durrell Jones and Wesley York.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Edd "Sweetpea" Thompson, William Lane Johnson, J.T. Hodnett, R.B. Davis, Hugh Moore, Robert Westbrook, Dr. Julian Hill, Dr. T.N. Braddock, Dr. Andrew Wartak, and former co-workers at B&W.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Palestine Cemetery Fund, c/o Jim Murray, 18515 Hwy. 46, Pheba, MS 39755.
