RITES ARE TODAY FOR J. C. CURTIS

Funeral services for James Claybourn Curtis, 87, of Beckley, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Webb and Neal Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Overdorf officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Tabor cemetery.

Curtis, a former real estate broker in the area, died at 2:10 a.m. Monday in a local hospital after a short illness.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Oak Grove and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge of Mabscott.

Born Sept. 2, 1875, at Prosperity, he was a son of the late Claybourn and Elizabeth Warden Curtis.

Curtis lived his enitre life in the area. He lived for a number of years with Clyde Clay of Beckley, and made his home for the past year with a niece, Mrs. Mary Rapp of Skelton.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Laura Snuffer of Mount Tabor; three grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Graveside rites will be conducted by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Mabscott.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Clay, Jack Clay, Ross Curtis, John Curtis, Ewell Curtis, and Woodrow Naff.
