John H. Ball, 80, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday in an Athens hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born December 1, 1884 in Alabama, Mr. Ball moved to Texas and settled in Murchison in 1901. He and the former Miss Nannie Ella Drewry were married March 11, 1909 in Athens. He was a member of the Baptist church, and a retired farmer.
Mr. Ball is survived by his wife; one son, Lee Ball of Murchison; two daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Lou Cornelius of Fort Worth and Mrs. Willie Jo Seabolt of Dallas; three brothers, Tom and Bob Ball of Alto and Arthur Ball of Brownsboro; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Alvis of Fort Worth, Mrs. Minnie Cannon of Big Spring, and Mrs. Vennie Tomlinson of Noonday, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Murchison First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Thompson and the Rev. J.W. Williford officiating; and interment will be made in Red Hill Cemetery with Carroll and Lehr in charge.
Pallbearers will be J.T. Ball, A.O. Ball, Dan Ball, Larry Tomlinson, James Tomlinson, and W.J. Alvis.
