SANDY-- Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Howard Isaac Childs, 85, passed away April 23, 1994 at his home.
Born December 28, 1908 in Gunnison, Utah to Edward S. and Matilda Margaret Thunell Childs. His mother died when he was six years old and was then raised by his father and loving second mother, Eveline Peterson Childs. Married Elise Olauson March 10, 1932, in the Manti LDS Temple. His greatest joy was being with his wife and companion of 63 years and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He served an LDS mission in Sweden and for 63 years, maintained a monthly gathering with fellow missionaries; he had a great love and testimony of the Gospel and served faithfully as a High Priest in the Sandy Canyon Rim Ward. He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1973, and he loved the outdoors and was an avid and patient fisherman.
Survived by his wife; three daughters, Beverly Wardley, Pat Gibson, Marilyn Owen, and son, Stanley H. and their spouses; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Tursell Larson, Margaret Olauson, Ardell Nielsen, Virginia Rosenland; two brothers, Lynn Childs and Gorden Dee Childs. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, brothers and sisters, Gilbert Childs, Elna Bushnell, Von Childs, Muriel Rydalch, and granddaughter, Lisa Walker.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Dr. Philip L. Roberts and his home care nurse, Carolee Schwendiman, and the Federal Employees Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 1994 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sandy Canyon Rim Ward, 1050 East Galena Drive (9820 South). Friends may call Monday 7-9 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 South 1700 East and Tuesday 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Ward. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, Utah. Burial was April 26, 1994.
