Richard John Dietz Sr., 79, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at his home in Inman, SC with his family, and the help of Interim Hospice.
Born in Brush, CO on July 16, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Lydia Schreiner Dietz.
He was married to Melba Jean Johns on January 22, 1955, in Denver, CO. He graduated from St Francis de Sales High School in Denver, CO. He joined the US Navy in 1950 where he served his country for 24 years. He retired in 1974 as a Chief Petty Officer from Mobile Construction Battalion 74.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by brother, Gary Dietz of Denver, CO; sisters, Marilyn Newton of Denver, CO and Joyce Eckhoff of Minco, OK and their families; his children: Richard Dietz Jr., Kathy Burrell (Larry), Linda Dietz, Barbara Hoblit (James), and Suzie Romani (Arnold); four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, December 20, 2010, at 1:30 PM at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
Woodlawn Sosebee Funeral Home and Cremation Services will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
