GALESBURG - Frank E. Sandburg, 85, of Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg, formerly of 1351 W. Losey St., Galesburg, died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Born Sept. 29, 1916, in Galesburg to Frank and Anna England Sandburg, he married Lottie Simmons on Oct. 26, 1947, in Galesburg. She died March 1, 1990.

He also was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Surviving are one brother, Robert of Muscatine, Iowa; and one sister, Louise Anderson of Galva.

A World War II Army Air Forces veteran, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2257.

He worked as a baker at Strand Bakery for many years and then was a custodian at Galesburg High School for 20 years before retiring in 1982.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Leigh Nygard will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by HinchliffPearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
