Mrs. Mae Reed Is Claimed By Death
Mrs. Mae Davenport Reed, 73, of Bluffton, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Dwight Kennedy, 526 East Cherry street. Death was attributed to coronary occlusion. She had been ill since March 1946 and seriously ill the past 10 days.
She was born in Wells county on Feb. 5, 1878, a daughter of Dr. E. P. and Amarintha Latamore Davenport. Her marriage on Dec. 20, 1899, was to Burton W. Reed, who preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1946.
A lifelong resident of Wells county, Mrs. Reed was a member of the First Methodist church. She taught for 25 years, until 1946, the Sunday school class which bears her name.
Mrs. Reed had made her home with her son-in-law and daughter since 1946.
Surviving in addition to the daughter are three sons, Nobel and Wendell Reed, both of Indianapolis, and James Reed, of Bluffton; one half-brother, Herman Davenport, of Fort Wayne, and six grandchildren. Three brothers, Merton, Claude and Fred Davenport, are deceased.
The body was removed to the Thoma funeral home where it will remain for services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. E. E. Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery.
