Wendell D. Reed Dies at Age 72
A brother of James Reed and Mrs. Dwight Kennedy, both of Bluffton, Wendell D. Reed, 72, of Pompano Beach, Fla., died at 5 p.m. Wednesday in a hospital in that city to which he had been admitted the night before.
Mr. Reed, who died of an apparent heart attack, had been ill the past eight months and had a history of heart problems.
Born, Jan. 31, 1903 in Wells County, he was the son of Bert and Mae Davenport Reed. His marriage to Mary Ann Huffman, who survives, took place in Bluffton in October 1927. The widow is a sister of Joe and Fred Huffman of Bluffton.
Mr. and Mrs. Reed resided in Bluffton for a few years, after which they resided many years in Indianapolis, where Mr. Reed was an industrial comptroller prior to his retirement.
Other survivors include two sons, Dr. Thomas Reed of Indianapolis and Dr. Richard Reed of Brunswick, Me., and four grandchildren.
No formal services will be held and the body will be cremated.
