Burton W. Reed, 70, Dies At His Home
Burton W. Reed, 70, lifelong resident of Wells county, died at 6 a.m. today at his home at 414 Miller street, following an illness of four weeks from heart trouble.
Born in Wells county Dec. 7, 1875, the decedent was the son of David and Eliza Gilliland Reed. He was married Dec. 20, 1899, at Craigville to Mae Davenport, who survives. He was a member of the United Brethren church at Craigville. He was employed for 16 years with the Patton-McCray company and since the discontinuation of the business had been retired.
Surviving besides the widow are three sons, Noble M. Reed and Wendell Reed, both of Indianapolis, and James E. Reed, of Bluffton; a daughter, Mrs. Dwight Kennedy, of Bluffton; four grandchildren; two brothers, Milton Reed, of Gailard, Ga., and Walter Reed, of Craigville, and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Abbott and Mrs. Ethel Chevis both of Tampa, Fla.
The body will remain at the Thoma & Son funeral home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in charge of Rev. Wayne Paulen, pastor of the First Methodist church. Burial will be in the Oakland cemetery north of Craigville [sic - Fairview Cemetery].
