BALDWYN – Rachel Miller Barrett, 85, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at the Baptist Hospital in Booneville. She was a lifelong resident of the South Prentiss community and a member of the South Prentiss Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Marietta Mfg. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1936. She also attended NEMCC. She loved playing basketball and gardening. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She most treasured her church and her family.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Elbert Ray Bennett and Bro. Dan Mobley officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville City Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Pace of Booneville, Angela Pounds and her husband, Larry, of Marietta, and Linda Bryant of Dallas, Texas; one son, Mitch Barrett and his wife, Debbie, of Booneville; one sister, Ann Miller of Memphis; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Horace Barrett, who died Feb. 3, 2004; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miller; one brother, Horace Miller; one sister, Maxine Miller Green; three sons, Bobby Barrett, Jimmy Barrett and Eddie Barrett.

Pallbearers will be Wade Arnold, Ted Ryan, Junior Ryan, Gary Spencer, Tommy Crabb, Danny Michael, David West and Jimmy Short. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Hugh Scott, James Thronton, Vaughn Michael and Doug Lytal.
