Sarah Ann Butler was born third of nine children of Peter Butler and Lydia Nelson of Buckland.

Sarah Ann Married, (1) Apr 19, 1849, Andrew Luther Elmer, S. of Luther, s. of Gad, three children; m. (2 )Oct. 28, 1869, William Harrison Elmer, s. of Adolphus, s. of Gad, no children.

Children by (1):
Walter Raleigh, b. June 10, 1851; m. Mar. 3, 1880, Frances Ada Van Valkenburg of Buckland. They resided at 22 Lincoln st., Greenfield for most of their married life.

Martha Rosella, b. Sept. 9, 1852, in Buckland; m. Jan. 20, 1880, William B. Gardner; resided Ashfield.

Flora Angie, b. Sept. 25, 1855, d. 1925; bur. next to parents. Sarah is residing in Northampton with her at the time of her death at 84 yrs., 3 mos., 23 days.

Sarah Ann Elmer, born 6 Aug 1829, age 84 yrs., 3 mos., 23 da., widow of Andrew, died at 16 Center St., #1, Northampton, Mass., on 29 Nov 1913. Parents Peter Butler, and Lydia Nelson, both born at Buckland. Miss Flora Elmer of Northampton, informant. [dau.] Cause of death uremia, secondary senility. Place of burial Plain Cem., Ashfield, Dec 1 1913. R. E. Edwards, 60 King St., undertaker.
