Per Obit: Mrs. Grace Hefty Pioneer's Widow- Mrs. Grace Isabel Hefty, widow of one of Miami's first councilmen, Caspar Hefty, Sr., died Sunday after a long illness. She was 88. Born in New Smyrna, Mrs. Hefty came to Miami in 1900 and married five years later. Active in early civic and cultural development in Miami, she was one of the first sponsors of the Miami Woman's Club, the Miami Music Club, and the Musicians Club of America. Mr. Hefty, who had worked for many years in printing departments of the Miami Metropolis and the Miami Herald, opened the first commercial printing plant in South Florida, The Hefty Press. Mrs. Hefty is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Dowd and Mrs. Katherine Myler, two sons, Alvah Lee Hefty and Caspar Hefty, Jr. and two sister Mrs. L. E. Bunnell and Mrs. H. Lesie Quigg, all of Miami. Services will be held at 3:30 pm. Wednesday at Combs Funeral Home with Mr. Conrad R. Willard officiating. Repose will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Central Baptist Church Library Fund.
