Lt. Col. Albert Hartman. 76, Rancho Bernardo. Calif., formerly o f Oshkosh. died Wednesday evening, Feb. 19, 1992.
He was born Aug. 22, 1915, in Oshkosh, the son of the late George and Anna Hanneman Hartman.
Albert was an avid golfer and was a state golf champion, W.S.U.C.
Lt. Col. Hartman received his education in the Oshkosh public school system. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (Oshkosh State College), receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in education.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1938. He worked in the Marine Corps Intelligence Department in Washington, D.C., and taught R.O.T.C. at the University of Southern California. He fought in various zones of the South Pacific, including Okinawa and Korea. He served in various divisions, including the 1st and 6th Marine Divisions. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1960.
Survivors are his wife, Evelyn; one daughter; three brothers, Edward Hartman of Oshkosh, Raymond (Lois) Hartman of St. Charles, Ill., and Ralph (Rita) Hartman of Providence, R.I.; and three sisters, Helen (Herman) Hoppe, Lillian Hartman and Elaine (Leo) Muza, all of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by a sister, Deloris Popke, and two brothers, Walter Kenneth Hartman and William Hartman,
Per Albert's wishes, he was cremated, and ashes were buried at sea.
