ELIZA JANE KIM
---Eliza Jane Kim (nee Baity) was born in La Plata on June 4, 1858, and died at her home in Gove, Kansas, Monday night, February 26, 1912. The cause of death was dropsy and heart trouble.
---At the age of fifteen she was married in this city to Robert Sebastian Kim, of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on February 8, 1873 and lived here until the fall of 1878, when, with their three year old daughter, Myrtle, they crossed the prairies in an ox-wagon to Russell County, Kansas. Eight years later, in 1886, they moved to Gove, Kansas where they have since lived.
---The deceased was one of a large and well known La Plata family, and in addition to her mother, Mrs. Frances E. Baity, she leaves to mourn her loss, a husband and three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Baker, Gove, Kansas, Mrs. Mable Mahurin, Ft. Scott, Kansas, Miss Maud Kim, Gove, Kansas, and the following half-brothers and sisters, Rev. George Baity, Kansas City, John and Herbert Baity, La Plata, Jim Baity, secretary to Senator Reed, Washington, D.C., Mrs. N.L. Vandrelip, Ellsworth, Iowa, Frank Baity, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mrs. Emmett Johnson, La Plata, Miss Lottie Baity, La Plata and Harry Baity of San Antonie, Texas.
---Funeral services, conducted by Rev. T.S. Matthews, were held March 1, at her mother's home and interment was made in the city cemetery.
---Among the mourners at the graveside were her husband, her three daughters and Mr. Mahurin of Ft. Scott, Kansas.
