DIED — At his home in this village on Sunday February 24th, of peritonitis, after an illness of but five days, E. Steinhaus, aged 51 years and 4 months.
Deceased has been a resident of this place for nearly 10 years, coming here in April ‘79. He was an affectionate husband, a kind father, a true friend and a good citizen.
The funeral services were conducted by Re. Henry Staehlin of the German Lutheran church of which denomination he was an active and conscientious member. For 21 years he had been a member of the Odd Fellows organization and esteemed the order highly. He was also foreman of the village fire department and done much toward bringing it to its present efficiency. The remains were followed to the grave, in the cemetery west of the village, by a large number of relatives and friends; six brother Odd Fellows acted as pall bearers; the fire department in uniform led. A wife and twelve children — nine boys and three girls, survive him, and to them, in their great bereavement, the many warm friends of the deceased extend their sympathy and condolence.
