She was a native of Bertie County, N.C., and lived in this area 60 years. She was a daughter of William and Mrs. Henrietta Pierce Phelps and the widow of William Delk Todd.
She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church 42 years and taught Sunday school many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lester C. Sawyer, and a son, William D. Todd Jr., both of Chesapeake; four sisters, Mrs. Rosa Cooper and Mrs. Daisy Singleton of Chesapeake, and Mrs. Nora Root of Norfolk, two grandchildren; a step-grandchild, two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to Francis A. Gay Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in Bethel Assembly of God Church by the Rev. Hugh Mason, pastor, and the Rev. David Berquist of Glad Tidings Church. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
