Albert H. Berg

The funeral for Albert H. Berg, 69, Valley City, formerly of Litchville, was Tuesday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Valley City. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery near Litchville. He died Saturday, May 26, 1979.

Rev. Victor Saude officiated at the funeral. Mrs. Norris Nelson sang "How Great Thou Art" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Accompanist was Mrs. Don Flatau.

Honorary pallbearers were Harry Pederson, Al Legler, Alfred Opdahl, George Person and Ivan Wieck. Pallbearers were Orvin Elton, George Gudmestad, Norman Olstad, Adolph Bruse, Oliver Borg and Charles Hartman.

Mr. Berg was born August 16, 1909 near Litchville, the son of Gilbert and Helga Berg. He received his education in rural schools and grew to manhood in the community. He married Lorraine Hayfield October 20, 1934. They farmed until 1975 when they moved to Valley City. They made their home in Greenland Township on the farm homesteaded in 1882 by his great-grandfather, Ingvart Brox. Albert was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Valley City. He had served as a member of the school board and was a member of the Eagles.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Lois) Wieck, Litchville; two sons, Larry, Marion; and Warren, Valley City; two brothers, Leonard, Litchville; and Fred, Sturgis, SD; four sisters, Mrs. Len (Bertha) Boyer, Hatton; Mrs. Ted (Alice) Wheeler, Buxton; Mrs. Anne Hunt, Yakima, Wash; and Mrs. Bert (Helen) Manns, Ypsilanti; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Arrangements were by Oliver's Chapel.
