Sarah spent the first fifteen years of her life in Manti, Utah. In 1871 she moved with her parents to what would become Glenwood in Sevier County, Utah.
Sarah married Peter Kimball Lemmon, Sr. on April 24, 1876 in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah. They lived in Glenwood for several years until October, 1896, when they moved to Colonia Diaz, Mexico, so Peter could continue practicing polygamy. They lived in Mexico until 1912, when they, with other foreigners, were driven from Mexico by Mexican revolutionaries. They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah.
They had eight children:
