Funeral services for Peter C Schmidt, 89, Friendship Manor, Shakopee, were said Monday, February 11, at St Mark's Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert Cassidy and the Rev. Norbert Delort of Denver, nephew of the deceased, concelebrated the 11 am Mass of Christian burial.
Mr. Schmidt died Thursday, February 7, at Friendship Manor.
Peter C. Schmidt was born January 27, 1891 in Marystown to John and Katherina (Sames) Schmitt. He married Catherine Meier at Guttenberg, Iowa on November 25, 1919. He was a self-employed farmer and a member of Shakopee American Legion Post 2 after serving in the US Army during WW1.
Survivors include nine sons, Harold, Alex, Alois, Walter, Joseph and Paul, all of Shakopee, Robert of Marystown, Anthony of Hopkins, and Arthur of New Prague; three daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Antoinette) Brown of Clearwater, MN, Mrs. Ray (Theresa) Lehnen of Jordan, and Mrs. Francis (Marie) Bisek of Shakopee; 39 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Math Schmitt of Shakopee. His wife Catherine preceded him in death.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Harold Schmidt, Jr., Ed, Peter, Phillip, Steve, and Daniel Schmidt, all grandsons.
Mass servers were Charles Bisek, Tim Bisek, and John Schmidt, all grandsons.
Interment was at St Mark's Cemetery with military services being held by the Shakopee Veterans Memorial Squad.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Philipp Funeral Home.
