U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Yale Business College, in 1916, from Georgetown University Law School, in 1923, was admitted to the bar in 1924 and commenced to practice law in New Haven, Connecticut. He was on the corporation counsel of North Branford, Connecticut, (1924-46) and special assistant to the attorney general, Department of Justice, Washington, D.C., (1925-26). He also was chairman of the board of finance of North Branford, (1934-46), judge of probate the North Branford District, (1938-46), judge of probate, New Haven Probate Court, (1944-45) and attorney for the County of New Haven, (1942-46). In 1947, he was elected as a Republican to the Eightieth Congress, serving until 1949. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was again attorney for the County of New Haven, (1949-60), served on the corporation counsel for town of North Branford and resumed the practice of law until his death at age 79.
