Marriage at Effingham of Prominent Young Couple
Miss Vera sedilia Hawk, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Hawk, and Herbert Herman Happel, oldest son of Mrs. Lottie Happel, were married at the Methodist parsonage in Effingham at 6 p.m. Sunday. Rev. P. B. Knepp, pastor of the M. E. church, officiated. Following the wish of the the bride, the marriage was a very quiet one. There were no attendants and no guests.
the bride was born in Atchison county and with the exception of a few years, when she and her parents were with Wilbur Hawk in Atlanta, Ga., has spent her life here.
The groom is the oldest son of Mrs. Lottie Happel, and has since the death of his father, six years ago, earned the respect of all of his acquaintances for his unfailing kindness and courtesy toward his mother. He is capable and industrious, and the neighbors of both parties have long ago decided the match an ideal one.
They will go to house keeping at once on the Happel farm, where the good wishes of the entire community follow them for a long and happy life.
