Early Tuesday morning this community was saddened by the news of the sudden death of Homer J. Hawk, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Hawk, north of Effingham. Brief reports from Forsyth, Mont. Mr. Hawk's home, state that he was killed in a wreck on the Great Northern railroad near Custer Mont., about four o'clock Monday evening. He was a conductor and was in charge of a work train. Mr. Hawk was born in Ohio about thirty-three years ago, but spent most of his life on the farm north of Effingham. He went to Montana about eleven years ago and entered ther railroad service with headquarters in Forsyth. Besides his parents, a widow and one child and the following brothers and sisters survive him: John D., Robert Clifford, Vera, and Mrs. Robert Foster, of Effingham; Mrs. Clem Higley, of Cummings, Charles, of Shawnee, Okla., and W. C., of Atlanta Ga. All, except Charles and Wilbur, will be here for the funeral, which will be held at the Methodist church this afternoon at 2 o'clock. The body arrived in Effingham this morning. T. W. Tucker, J. A. Harman, J. E. Hitchner, Alex McKay, D. Richter and Fred Heimbach will act as pallbearers and the interment will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. Homer J. Hawk and daughter, Fern, of Forsyth, Mont., who have been visiting at Effingham for a month leave in a few days for home. Mrs. Hawk has had a monument placed over the grave of her husband in the Effingham cemetery.
