"In 1901 she united with the Christian Church of Porterville under the pastorate of W. W. Jacobs. For many years she was a regular attendant at Sunday School and church services.
"She was a kind an devoted wife and mother. On many occasions she willingly shared her home with others when they needed a home.
"A son, Herbert Ray, who died Jan. 1, 1930, and an infant grandson in 1941, preceded her in death.
"She is survived by her husband, four sons, two daughters and many other relatives, Frank R. of Louisville, Ky., C. John of Salem, Ill., Harold of Newport, Ind., Merlin at home, Mrs. Cora Lionberger of Eaton, and Mrs. Ethel Leggitt of Willow Hill, Ill., Thirteen grandchildren, three step grandchildren, four daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, one sister Mrs. Alice King of Oblong, one brother Lawrence Rhodes of Eaton, one aunt, Mrs. Eva Price of Annapolis, and an aged neighbor, Mrs. Emeline Savidge, a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
"She has gone home
That is Gods way
The message of welcome
Came to her, like a low sweet song.
We loved her,
But God loved her more
And called her home
She has gone to that beautiful Isle of Somewhere
And left us dreaming
How fair it must be
Since she awaits us over there."
