ELNORE E BAUMANN

Elnore E. Baumann, 91, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 7, 2009 with her children at her side at Homestead Care Center, New Holstein where she was a resident the past seven years.
She was born in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Louis and Lillian (Hartwig) Bruechert. Elnore was a 1935 graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. She worked in the Manitowoc City Clerks office until her marriage to Melvin Baumann on April 19, 1944 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manitowoc by Rev. Uetzmann. The couple moved to Kiel in 1947 and in 1950 purchased Baumann's Meat Market. They built, owned and operated Baumann's Riverview Restaurant in 1968 retiring in 1981.

Elnore was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel and the Women's Guild. She also was a member of the Kiel VFW Auxiliary and the Homemakers Club. Elnore, Gertie Ruh and five other women, who were Sunday school teachers at Rev. Uetzmann's Church and their husbands, formed a monthly card club that got together for almost 50 years.

She is survived by her children- sons, James (Marianne) Baumann, Kiel, David (Laurie) Baumann, Reedsville, John Baumann, Cincinnati; daughters, Kathryn (Wayne) Lannoye, Appleton, Karen (Gary) Geisler, Ripon; and 11 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters, Lois Hoge and Jeannine Herzog, and one brother, Fred (Ann) Bruechert, all of Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin on Feb. 11, 1999, her parents; infant sisters, Dorothy and Lorraine; one sister, Lillian Schoening.

Funeral services were held at St. Peters United Church of Christ, Kiel with Rev. David Mercer officiating. Burial took place in the Kiel City Cemetery.
