Wife of Richard Marlette/Marlett, Eliza (Unknown Maiden Name) born about 1805 Vermont (Per Census Records). Per MARLETTE Family Pillar, Eliza died March 30, 1841 at age 36y.

We believe this is the 1st wife of Richard Marlett/Marlette and she was intially buried at Oakwood Cemetery (Per Oakwood Interment Records) in Penfield, Monroe, NY as Mrs. Richard Marlett interred April 3 1841 (FAG70338848) in Lot 408C purchased by Peter Marlett, father of Richard. On 3/21/2012 Craig Caplan FAG Volunteer 47072250 confirmed that there is no marker or any remnants of markets at that location..but also, no additional notations have been made to the initial interment record noting that remains were removed or transferred.

We believe that her remains may have been removed and reinterred after Richard died in 1877 at the Webster Rural Cemetery (FAG 70341458) with Richard, as indicated by the MARLETTE FAMILY PILLAR.

HOWEVER, per 2/5/2012 Email from Cynthia Stanley (ID 47531290), "A somewhat common occurrence, in those times, was that a former loved one who had died and was buried elsewhere, was later memorialized on the family monument, though not actually buried at that same cemetery. This is probably more likely than her having been re-interred near her husband, Richard."

Note also....there is another Eliza Marlett enumerated in the 1850 AND 1860 Census Records with Richard and children. We have since found that Richard remarried sometime after his 1st wife's death and before the 1850 Census to Eliza L Corning born 8/13/1805 Vermont, the daughter of Dr. Noah Corning and Clarissa Morton. She died May 9, 1875 and is buried with her parents in the Corning Plot at Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester NY.

Richard and his first wife Eliza had 4 known children, Sarah E (never married), Mareau B., James B, and Reuben A. The families census and death records are located under the various names of Marlett, Marlette, and Marlet. Gravestones located in the Rural Webster Cemetery are all engraved as MARLETTE.

Sons Mareau B and Reuben A are also buried at Webster Rural Cemetery, and share the Marlette Family Pillar with their parents.

THEREFORE, to hopefully avoid confusion, there are 2 wives of Richard named Eliza and 3 FAG Memorials as follows:

Wife 1 FAG 70338848 (Oakwood Cemetery) under Mrs. Richard MARLETT (Eliza Unknown) who died 3/30/1841, noted as interred at Oakwood Cemetery Lot 408C in 1841.

Wife 1 FAG 70341458 Webster Rural Cemetery Section A Row 12 Grave 50 under Eliza Unknown MARLETTE who died 3/30/1841. More than likely this is a memorial only since no record has actually been found that she was reinterred from Oakwood to Webster Rural.

Wife 2 FAG FAG 76722982 Eliza L Corning MARLETT who died 5/9/1875 and buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester with her parents in the CORNING Family Lot Range 1 (1-100) Section 3-1 South Grove.
