Hazen J. Hatch, 74, dies after illness
---Hazen J. Hatch, 74, of 120 S. Grand, died Sunday morning at Oaklawn Hospital, where he had been a patient since Jan. 23. Mr. Hatch had been ill since July.
---He was born Sept. 23, 1901 in Marshall to Jessi and Ella (Willard) Hatch. He married Janet vandenBerg[sic] in New Platz, N.Y. on May 24, 1928.
---Mr. Hatch was an attorney associated with the firm of Hatch, Hatch, Wagner and Hill, 302 W. Green. The Hatch family has been in law practice in Marshall since 1880.
---He graduated from Marshall High School, attended Olivet College and graduated from the University of Michigan School of law in 1928.
---Mr. Hatch was appointed as a member of the visitation committee, U-M Law School. He was a member of the Calhoun County, State of Michigan and American Bar Associations. He was nominated as a regional representative for University of Michigan in 1952, served in the state legislature during the 1930s, was a member of the Knife and Fork Club of Battle Creek and the Trinity Episcopal Church here, where he had served as a senior warden.
---Surviving are his wife, Janet; one daughter, Mrs. Dustin (Janet) Ordway, Fairport, N.Y.; one son, H. vandenBerg[sic] Hatch of Portage; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Hortense McKenzie and Mrs. Beatrice Evans, both of Marshall.
---Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Samuel West officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the Trinity Episcopal Church memorial fund. Kelser-Farley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial service for Hazen H.[sic] Hatch who died Sunday at Oaklwn[sic] Hospital was at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Rev. Samuel E. West officiated and Paul Humiston was organist. Cremation was at Graceland Memorial Park, Grand Rapids. Memorials were given to the Trinity Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements were by the Kelser-Farley Funeral Home.
