Philip Altman, 83, Route 5, Bryan, died Thursday evening. He was a lifelong resident of Center Township and was actively engaged in farming until July of this year. He was a member of the Center Township School Board; the Brown Cemetery Board of Trustees; a World War I veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 2084; and the Williams County Conservation League. Surviving are two sons, John Altman, Edgerton, and Arthur Altman, Huston, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Mary) Seslar, Marysville, Mrs. Avon (Phillis) Leeking, Woodland Hills, Calif., Mrs. Harold (Helen) Horner, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; and Mrs. William (Doris) Kovach, Cleveland and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 1970. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday from the Oberlin and Ford Funeral Home in Bryan, with Rev. George Font officiating. Burial was in Brown Cemetery. The American Legion Post conducted graveside military rites.
