Ex-Mayor's Brother Dies
George V Wallin, brother of William J Wallin, former mayor of Yonkers, died Thursday at his summer home at Peach Lake. He was 86 years old.
Wallin, whose brother served as mayor of Yonkers from 1917 to 1921, formerly lived at 364 Park Ave. Born on Feb 13, 1885 in Yonkers to Isabel Watson and John C Wallin, both deceased, he was a graduate of Yonkers High School, New York University and NYU School of Law.
A practicing attorney from 1916 to 1950, he married the former Doretta (Dora) A. Kuss on June 12, 1917 in Yonkers.
He was a charter member of both the Hawthorne Lodge No 1045, Order of Masons and the Vails Grove Golf Club of Peach Lake. A member of the Yonkers Draft Board, he was also a member of the Yonkers Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association and principal of both the Mortgage Service Corp. and the YMF Realty Company.
He is survived by his wife Doretta, two children, Mrs. Joseph F (Mildred) Martin of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mrs. Ellwood S (Dorothy) Chase Jr., of Yonkers and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
