US Congressman. Born in Plymouth, Massachusetts, he moved to Maine as a young adult and was active as a merchant; there is apparently no record he studied law. He served as a member of the Maine State House of Representatives (1826 to 1827), the State Senate (1830 to 1832, 1841), as Postmaster of Blanchard (1833 to 1837), and as High Sheriff of Somerset County (1835). A Democrat, Davee was elected to the Twenty-Fifth and Twenty-Sixth US Congresses, serving from 1837 to 1841. He did not seek a third term, possibly for health reasons, and returned to his home in Blanchard, where he died on his 44th birthday.
