Andrew Rock, farmer, sec. 31, was born in Franklin Co., Pa., Aug. 20, 1816, and is the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Dull) Rock. The former was of Scottish descent, and the latter of German descent and a native of Pennsylvania. Andrew came to Canton, this county, in 1851 and engaged in carpentering, at which trade he was worked for many years. He then moved upon his farm and improved it all himself. He was married to Susanna Monn in 1839, who bore him 12 children,--4 boys and 8 girls,--11 of whom are living.

Andrew Rock, of Buckheart township, died Monday, Sept. 15, 1884, of consumption, aged 68 years, 25 days. Was born August 20, 1816. Funeral services at Macedonia school house, conducted by Elder Jacob Negley.

To the Honorable Meredith Walker Judge.

The petition of M.W. Maxwell respectfully represents that he is a resident of the county of Fulton; that Andrew Rock late of Canton in the said county of Fulton and state of Illinois, on or about the first day of September A.D. 1885 departed this life leaving no last will and testament as this petitioner is informed and believes; that the deceased left personal property in the county of Fulton and state of Illinois, particularly described as follows: Cattle.

That the value of the whole personal estate of the said deceased does not exceed one hundred dollars and that the said deceased left him surviving a widow Susan Rock since deceased and the following named children: Isabelle Fouts, Malinda Lewis, Elizabeth Maxwell, Susan Myers, Sarah Pierson, Catherine Rock, Josephine Raeker, Mary A. Eavland, Henry S.A. Rock, Thomas F. Rock.

That your petitioner resides at Canton in the county of Fulton and state of Illinois, and that the said Susan Rock deceased was at the time of her death indebted to M.W. Maxwell and other heirs in the sum of one hundred and twenty-five dollars. Your petitioner therefore prays that letters of administration may be granted to him your petitioner according to law.
