MRS. EVELAND DEAD.
Following Long Illness Well Known Lady Passes Away at Her Home Sunday Evening.
Mrs. Mary Eveland, widow of John Eveland, died at 7:50 o'clock Sunday evening, at her home, corner of Pine street and Seventh avenue. Death was due to cancer and followed a prolonged illness.
Mary Rock was born in Fulton county, about five miles south of Canton, July 27, 1860, and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Rock, both of whom are dead. She was married Feb. 14, 1881, to John Eveland, and they resided at different times in Liverpool, Banner and Buckheart townships. Mr. Eveland's death occurred in 1903, from which time Mrs. Eveland resided in Canton until her death.
Of a family of six children one son and three daughters are living. They are Samuel Eveland, Mrs. Will Conover and Miss Bessie Eveland of Canton and Mrs. Orville Yager of Peoria. One son and one daughter died in infancy.
Other near relatives surviving are two brothers and seven sisters--Thomas and Henry and Miss Kate Rock, Mrs. Daniel Lewis, Mrs. Walter Maxwell, Mrs. Susanna Myers, Mrs. Sarah Pearson and Mrs. Josephine Raker, all of Canton, and Mrs. Henry Fouts of Los Angeles, Calif. Two brothers are dead.
Mrs. Eveland was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and a woman held in high regard by all who knew her. There is general regret that her life has drawn to its close, and the relatives have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
The funeral will be held at the home, at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, and interment will be in Greenwood cemetery.
