ROBERT V. LORFELD

Robert V. Lorfeld, 62, of 626 S. 35th St., Manitowoc, died late Sunday evening, August 7, 1988 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Bruce McKenney and Rev. Lyle Luchterhand will officiate and burial will be in Saxon Cemetery, Town of Centerville.
Mr. Lorfeld was born October 9, 1925 in the Town of of Centerville, Manitowoc County, son of the late Alfred and Louise Wiegand Lorfeld. He served with the United States Army in World War II serving from January of 1945 to September of 1946 with the Army of Occupation in Korea in the 24th Corps of the Army of Engineers. He was married to Bernett Matthias, May 26, 1951 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Liberty. Mr. Lorfeld was employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding until poor health forced him to retire. He was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc and was a member and Past Post Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8974 in Cleveland and Thompson Burkard American Legion Post 28 of Valders.
Survivors include his wife, Bernett; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Debra Lorfeld of Madison; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary and Dewane Scheidt of Fond du Lac, Nola and Randall Haelfrisch of Cato, Nancy and SSG Leo Egbert of Fort Knox, Kentucky with her husband stationed in Korea, Grace Lorfeld of Manitowoc and his fiance, Michael Sebo of rural Valders; nine grandchildren, Katrina Lorfeld, Dathan, Melissa and Derek Scheidt, Dana and Tyler Schuh, Desire'e, Joshua and Jacob Egbert; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Mildred Lorfeld of Newton, Glen and Lil Lorfeld of Sheboygan; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elaine and Vincent Sleker of Manitowoc, Delores and Willard Beuchel of Sheboygan and Mrs. Marjorie Krueger of Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Elwood Krueger.
Friends may call at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4 pm to 9 pm Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of service at 11 am. Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
