Lifetime Topekan Mabel Spear Dies
Mrs. Mabel Adams Spear, 78, 403 Huntoon, died Monday evening in a local hospital.
She was born April 6, 1886 in Topeka and remained a resident here all her life. She was a grand-niece of Cyrus K. Holliday, a founder of Topeka.
She was a member of the Central Congregational Church, Topeka Chapter 462, OES, Toltec Rite, and for many years served on the supervisory board of the Salvation Army.
She had been secretary of the Shawnee County Polio Assn., and was a charter member of the Altrusa Club. She was a graduate of Washburn University. For 20 years she was assistant secretary of Associated Industries of Kansas.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert H. Spear, of the home; two brothers, Clyde M. Adams, Detroit, Mich., and Kenneth Miller Adams, Albuquerque, N.M.
