James Landman Rogers, son of Levi and Jane Rogers, was born near Warsaw, in Wayne County, Iowa, June 17, 1862, and passed away May 30, 1939, at Palco, Kansas, age 76 years, 11 months and 13 days. He was united in marriage to Melvina Ellen Coddington, October 16, 1881, in Wayne County, Iowa. To this union were born 4 sons, Berton, Tollis, Ora, and Loren. His wife, three sons, Berton, Tollis and Ora, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

September 1935 (year probably wrong), he with his family moved from Powersville, Mo., to Rooks County, Kansas. In 1937 he moved to Palco where he lived until his death. He leaves to mourn his passing, a brother, Andy, of Emmett, Idaho, one son, Loren of Palco, eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

He was baptized by Rev. Winey at Hays, Kansas, several years ago.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. E. Dunlap assisted by Rev. Lake in Palco Memorial hall. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery.
