Lucrettia R. "Lou" Markle, 70, died Thursday, September 15, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of Kenneth W. Markle. Mr. and Mrs. Markle observed their 38th wedding anniversary on February 21, 2011.

Lou was born in York on February 28, 1941, a daughter of the late Howard and Helen (Hershey) Saylor.

She was a retired employee of Specialty Industries in Red Lion and was previously employed at the West York Pfaltzgraff Pottery plant for over 25 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Kimberly D. Kohr and husband, James P. of Red Lion, Peggy A. Perkins and husband Robert of Mesa, Ariz; four grandchildren, Brandy Phillips, Amanda Knaub, Jesse Kohr, Rachael Wert; four great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Palmer Saylor, Kathryn Grove, Dean Saylor, Cindy Saylor, all of York, Nelson Saylor of Tennessee, Bernice Markel of Windsor, Alma Hemphill of Brogue, Diane Watson of Maryland. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Culp and a son, Kenneth Markle, Jr.

Entombment will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
