The Angel of Death

Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 12:30 p.m., the Angel of Death came to the home of B. E. Adams, of Houston, formerly of this place, and claimed its own, taking from him his loving and affectionate wife, Mrs. Pearl Adams, (nee Autry). For some time she had been a victim of typhoid pneumonia, and the disease refused to yield to skilled medical attention and the faithful ministrations of relatives and friends. Her sufferings were borne with untold patience. If she ever realized death was at her door it was not revealed to anyone, but seemed perfectly resigned to whatever might be her fate. Deceased was 21 years, 11 month and 2 days of age. In June, 1902, she united with the Christian church, and has since lived as a true follower of Christ.

Death in any form and under any circumstance is a ghastly spectacle. As if intuition revols at the thought of it, but, oh! how sad to think of one so young and fair cut down in youth, apparently in the midst of vigorous health. But "God giveth and He taketh away." We mus submit to His will. Through Him and by His word we have a hope of meeting loved ones in a home where death comes not. She leaves, besides her husband and infant son, a mother, two sisters and three brothers, viz.: Mrs. L. V. Autry, Mrs. J. F. Garner, Mrs. F. L. Martin, and Messrs. Sam, John and Luther Autry.

There's a time in the future when all

shall be called

To their dismal abode in the grave;

But there's one consolation, by the

promise of God,

Prepare and our souls will be saved.

Our bodies of flesh will surely decay,

To earth and to dust must return,

But our spirit, composed in the likeness

of God,

Is God's and to Him will return.

Mrs. F. Martin.
