William "Bill" Ransome Taylor, born February 14, 1924, Stephenson, Wyoming County, WV, was the first son in a family of eleven children of Grant U. Taylor, a coal miner, carpenter, and Justice of the Peace of Wyoming County, WV (1930-1940), and Mary Ellen (Wickline) Taylor. He suffered fatal injuries in a coal mining accident in March 1951, in Wyco, Wyoming County, WV. He graduated from Mullens High School, Mullens, WV. He is buried in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Beckley, Raleigh County, WV.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 from Huntington, WV, serving until the end of World War II.

He was survived by his parents, his wife, Emma Lee (Workman) Taylor, his six brothers, Charles Jackson Taylor, Thomas Waldron Taylor, Simpson Grant Taylor, Franklin Delano Taylor, Sr., Grover Robert Taylor, and Danny Rae Taylor, and his four sisters, Mary Elizabeth, Virginia Lee, Shirley Ann, and Ruth Danese.

Maternal grandparents: Thomas Thumb Wickline( 1859-1934), and Rachel Elizabeth (Louderback/Lauderback) Wickline (1875-1951)

Paternal grandparents: Ulysses Grant Taylor, and Docia (Taylor) Taylor Brock

Maternal grandmother, Rachel, his brother, Charles Jackson Taylor (1926-1991), and his sister-in-law, Ida Geneva (Workman) Taylor are also buried in the Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, Raleigh County, WV.
