Mrs. Gilbert (Marcella) Schill, age 85, a village of Cleveland resident, went home to her Lord on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at St. Luke Hospital in Milwaukee.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 5, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill. The Rev. Gregory Coulthard will be celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Wendel Cemetery in Cleveland.
She was born April 6, 1918, in the Town of Liberty, the daughter of the late Nickolas and Paulina Ebenhoe Steffen. Marcella attended St. Gregory School in St. Nazianz. On Oct. 18, 1939, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Schill at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz. The couple resided in Cleveland. Mr. Schill passed away May 19, 1992.
In the past, Marcella was employed by Tourist Inn, Lakeshore Canning Co., Hipke Canning Co., Stoeckigts Ball Room and Gambles. She was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers society, and the Catholic Knights. She spent many hours doing volunteer work at Morningside Nursing Home in Sheboygan. Presently she was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill and the Cleveland Senior Citizens Group.
Survivors include one son, Victor (Kay) Schill, Sheboygan; two daughters: Pauline (Owen) DeLong, Cleveland; and Marie (Steve) Meser, Sheboygan; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Caroling Jaehnig,Cleveland; and Delores (Mark) Markowski, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Elaine Steffen, St. Nazianz.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; one son, Leroy; one brother, Leo Steffen; one sister, Catherine Bartel; and two brothers-in-law, George Bartel and Robert Jaehnig.
