Emma was born to Christian Templin (1849-1912) and Sophia Johanna Tessin (1850-1923). Christ and Sophie made the big move to America in 1882 aboard the "Westphalia" with their children Fritz, then 8, Wilhelm, then 6, Bertha, then 3 and Herman who was an infant.

Her parents first lived a short time in Will Co. and Joliet, Ill where they were naturalizated on 1 November 1884. They then moved to Traverse Co., Minnesota where they lived the rest of their lives. Along the way they had two more children, Emma and Rosie.

Emma's siblings were:

1. Fredrich "Fritz" Bernhardt Christian Templin (also known in America as Fred) 1874-1946

2. Wilhelm "William" Carl Martin Templin 1876-1931

3. Bertha Henrietta Wilimena Templin (Erbe) 1879-1956

4. Herman "Henry" John Templin 1881-1932

5. Rosa "Rosie" Sophia Johanna Templin (Proebstle) 1893-1979

Emma married Victor Applequist in Winnebago Co., Ill. in 1901. Of this marriage they had 5 children:

1. Lenora Matilda Della Applequist (Poppenhagen) 1905-1978

2. Raymond F. Applequist 1906-2000

3. William Walter Applequist 1090-1981

4. Alice Applequist (Anderson) 1912-1989

There was rumor of another child named Vera, but I haven't found any documentation to support this.
