Husband Gilbert Coutant (6/7/1766-7/9/1845 NYC); a grocer, located at the "two-mile stone" in the Bowery. His parents were Henry Coutant and Elizabeth Chadeayne.
Mary was the mother of twelve children: 1. Hannah (1790-1815; Mrs. Daniel Clark) 2. Eliza (1791 - 1826, first wife of Nicholas Schureman); 3. Marian (1794-1814, wife of Nathaniel Martine) 4. Alletha (1796-1806); 5. Isaac (1798-1833); 6. Jane Simmons (1800-1889, Mrs. Wm. Henry Peck); 7. Susanna Neilson (1802-1816) 8. Catherine Varian (1804-1880, wife of Charles G. Ketcham); 9. Emeline (below); 10. Alletha (1808 - 1895, Mrs. Schureman Halsted; 11. Henry Gilbert (1810-1812) and 12.Daniel Chadeayne Coutant who died at 8 months in 1812. Burial locations are not known for many of the children; however, Gilbert owned the Coutant vault #156 in this cemetery (per his will).
